10 Tips to Help Prepare For Your Maternity Portrait Session.
Janesville Contemporary Photographer | Maternity Photography Sessions
Schedule your session in your 30-34th week of pregnancy for the most comfort. If your past that time, don’t stress!
I will guide you through comfortable posing, and I will make sure that you have a wide variety of styles to choose from.
Bring along some special accessories to personalize your shoot. Ultrasound photographs or something with baby’s name can work great.
We provide snacks but please bring some along if you have dietary restrictions or allergies. We will definitely add a snack break in to stay hydrated too.
We will take our time so you can be comfortable. Sessions usually run 60-120 minutes. Please add an hour if you select to have hair and makeup at your session.
Invite your significant other or your other children. We can incorporate them into the shoot. Spend the morning in hair and makeup. Complete your solo shots and have Dad and the kids come in at the end for some special portraits.
Wear a wide variety of clothing that makes you feel beautiful. Don’t just stick to a dress. Jeans and a tee shirt work great too. Try to stay away from patterns. Don’t have a maternity gown? Don’t stress. Jenny Elaine has a variety of dresses to choose from. Some of our options are featured below.
Book your pre shoot consultation. (It’s included in your session) This is the perfect time for us to get to know each other as well as for you to check out the studio and wardrobe choices. We will also go though what your vision is for your session so we can create a experience just for you.
Get plenty of rest and keep up your fluids the day prior.
Don’t stress. Remember this is a beautiful moment. We are here to assist you in this special day. Let us pamper you!

5 Tips Take Better Photographs of Your Children.
Janesville Photographer | Jenny Elaine Studio
Lifestyle Photography | Family Photography in Southern Wisconsin
I know we are all at home right now. I know we are stressed, sad, and also greatful for this time with our kids. Young and old. What a odd time. So many mixed emotions. I know there are so many day to day moments happening in your household. There is beauty at the breakfast table, homework time and even during chores. Yes I said it… you many be able to document the beauty while your little ones are folding the laundry! I’ve put together a list of 5 tips to get you taking better photographys! Enjoy - Jenny Elaine
Don’t get me wrong; I love taking photos of my three daughters. I am all for telling them to look at mom, “smile, say cheese, say jellybeans…” Anything to get their attention, but I love capturing those little moments that tell a story organically. Even though regular photos look beautiful, I feel like there’s just something different about photos of your children that are not “staged”. When you take a photo of your child organically, a lot of the times you can see their personality or mannerisms that you may miss in a cheesy smile.
Here are some of the photos that I captured organically. My daughter loves watermelon, you can tell this by the photo (I love this photo!) One night out on a walk, my daughter needed to tie her shoes. This photo is special because these shoes take forever to tie. I remember her being so proud of herself when she learned how to tie them and how these are her favorite pair of shoes. Photos that convey emotion tell a story. Does anyone out there have a child that bites their lip when they’re thinking? Or twirls their hair when they are reading? Daydreamers with tiny smiles? These photos will be cherished. I feel like they have a more editorial unposed look to them.
Here are some tips to take better organic photos of your children.
Get those organic moments. Try and refrain from; “Look at Mom... smile for dad.... Hold still, just one more!” Try to document the normal day to day stuff; sister being a big helper and feeding her brother, your preschooler pouring their own drink, brushing our teeth, reading a book, playing the piano, building Legos, coloring, etc. And it really helps to get down to their level: If they are a crawling, get down on the floor and take the photo from their point of view. The world looks different down there. Try and capture the surrounding area and take in everything from their unique perspective.
Take photos of them doing things they love! If they love to draw, take your phone down to the level of the table and snap their photo there while they are in the middle of drawing. If they love helping in the kitchen; get down to their level and snap them cracking the eggs, licking their fingers, or using the rolling pin.
Reflectors can be your best friend! This one is a little more advanced, but also inexpensive. If you’re looking for clean and crisp photos, try bouncing the light. You would be surprised at how easy this is. If you don’t have a reflector a white poly board or even a sheet works.
Once you’ve selected your photos that you want to keep, try using some editing software apps. A couple of my favorites are Filmborn and Lightroom.
I’m also a huge fan of layout apps. Here are a few of the ones that I love to use: Canva, PhotoGrid, and Layout. They are a great way to make a storyboard. I like to take photos of all the details; like in the photo pictured below with the watercolors. This was an afternoon when my daughter decided she wanted to paint some flowers. There’s also one of those “cheese” faces in there, however she was beaming already from pride for the things she created.
You can do this right on your smart phone as well as a DSLR. All of these examples were organically snapped and taken on various iPhones.

With your photography session you will spend the afternoon getting pampered and have beautiful images created just for you. The end result will be a perfect gift to give to you (or your lover!) We will create beautiful images that you will celebrate who you are and where you are at.
This session is for you… But you are more than welcome to invite a friend to split the session with you. This could be your best friend, your sister, or your mother. You’re going to have an amazing day! Why not share the day and make it a ladies day out! You will probably want to make plans for your evening because you’re going to look and feel fabulous! The session fee for two people is $300 so you can split it if you bring a friend. It is not necessary to invite a lady to come with you, completely up to you.
The session fee is $300 and includes a double makeover, fully guided Posing to make you feel and look beautiful.. That includes hair and make up, Champagne, session wardrobe styling, 4-6 outfit changes and the shoot. You can choose either a glamour or boudoir or a little bit of both!
Once your session is complete we will schedule a follow up about 10-14 days after for you to return to see your images professionally edited and retouched. At that time you can decide which products you would like to purchase and I will order them for you. I want you to fall in love with your images. Please be aware you are not obligated to buy them, but they are going to be fabulous so I’m sure you will want them all.
Prior to your session, we will schedule a pre shoot consultation. We will go over how you can prepare for your shoot as well as your wardrobe. I also have many items that are included in my client closet that you may what to incorporate in your session.

Janesville Lifestyle Photographer - An Afternoon Wedding with Alice
By: Jenny Elaine Photography | Photographer in Janesville Wisconsin
I think Alice got more then she bargained for when she walked though that door. Perhaps she wasn’t so lost after all; she found her prince!
This last spring I attended a very informative styled session by the talented Jewel Gray. I learned so many new techniques, and I love that I was able to bring home some of these new techniques to offer my clients. I am excited to add on intimate wedding, engagement and elopement sessions to my services.
Every detail was amazing! From the bridal wardrobe, the props, to the smoking hooka pipe which made this leaning experience so interesting as well as gorgeous.
So many vendors were included in this stylized session. I loved this styled wedding shoot and the way it created a very unique theme to a special event. How do you feel about themes being incorporated into your wedding day?

5 Tips to get ready for your Headshot Session - Janesville, WI Photographer
Is it time to update that old headshot? Here are 5 tips to help get you ready for your in studio session.
Where will you use your Portrait?
Think about how you will use your portrait. Will they be used in a business or personal way? Will you smile? Will you want them converted into black and white? These are all questions to think about prior to your headshot session. Don’t worry, your photographer should take some test shots. Remember to have fun too. Here are some tips to get you ready.
•Make-up
The best advice I have is to not overdo it. Apply your makeup in a natural, clean, and professional way. If you have small blemishes or acne; no worries, these can be retouched by your photographer.
•Hair
You know your hair better then anyone. Go with your everyday look. Headshot day is not the day to try a new style. Some clients choose to see a professional stylist or have one on hand during their shoot.
•Sleep
Sleep is very important the evening before your shoot. It will give you a fresh inviting look. Bags and dark circles do not look good and convert poorly to black and white.
•Hydrate
Drink plenty of water the day before. Your body and skin will thank you!
•Clothing
For corporate head shots it’s good to remember that your portrait will only be your face, and 1/4 of your body. Solid colors convert the best to black and white. Try to stay away from busy patterns like stripes, they can draw the eyes away from the face. For a personal headshot to be used with social media, or a company that is trying to get away from the traditional head shots, more of the body will be posed.
•Posing
Leave the posing to your photographer. Sometimes they may ask you to do silly things but trust them, they are the professional! Your photographer will pose you on both sides, they will get you to smile and look serious, as well as various lighting and posing techniques will be used for sliming and softening of the skin. Trust your photographer and have fun!
Jenny Elaine Photography offers stress free Headshot sessions in both studio or in the workplace. Branding packages are also available.

Outdoor Family Photography - Family Photography in Janesville, WI
A lovely late afternoon was spent exploring one of our many wonderful parks here in Janesville Wisconsin with this lovely family. I love nature and photographing families, getting to combine them is a bonus. I love seeing families interact and share these special moments with one another, it is a privilege to document this for them. We enjoyed the sunshine, the fall leaves, our parks, and each other.
